Childhood Lead Poisoning Investigations

The Environmental Health Division, working in cooperation with the Nursing Division, through the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention and GLO (Get the Lead Out) Programs help to eliminate lead paint hazards in the homes of children identified with elevated blood lead levels. Inspections are conducted by licensed lead risk assessors using an XRF lead paint analyzer to measure lead on painted surfaces.  Information is also available for homeowners and renters on a variety of lead paint topics.
