Our Clinical Nursing Services Division serves patients of all ages with a variety of programs and services. The division strives to provide excellent access to care and collaborates with community partners to help residents improve and maintain the healthiest lives possible. Programs and Services:

Communicable Disease

The Communicable Disease Program promotes optimal health among Macon County residents by preventing and controlling the spread of communicable diseases. We conduct investigations for those diseases reportable to the Illinois Department of Public Health including, but not limited to: Hepatitis A, B, and C. Meningitis, Salmonella, Shigella, Giardia, and Pertussis (whooping cough). For more information, please call us at (217) 423-6988 ext: 1317.

Foreign Travel

The Foreign Travel Program provides immunizations and anti-malarial recommendations for individuals who are traveling out of the country. In an effort to minimize the risk of infection and to prevent the transmission of disease, we provide travelers with an informational packet using current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We are designated as a Yellow Fever Immunization Center. Appointments are required for foreign travel vaccines. HealthWorks Medical Case Management

The HealthWorks Medical Case Management Program (HW MCM) is a collaborative effort between the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. The primary purpose of HW MCM is to assure that DCFS youth in care, receive comprehensive quality health care services. For more information, please call us at (217) 423-6988 ext: 1313.

**At this time, all vaccines are given by appointment only, on one of our scheduled clinic days, regardless of a person's age or the vaccine being provided.**


We offer immunization clinics at the MCHD every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:00-3:30 p.m.  For more information about immunizations, cost, and/or to make an appointment, please call (217) 423-6988 and press "2" for Clinical Nursing services.

STI Clinic

Program Notice: In partnership with Crossing Healthcare, the MCHD STI clinic is now open every Wednesday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Walk-ins will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.


Call (217) 423-6988 and press "2" for Clinical Nursing services to schedule an appointment or to ask questions regarding PrEP.


Testing includes: Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, HIV, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, and Trichomoniasis (in women)


Beginning Wednesday, April 10, 2024, STI tests will be $25.

Tuberculosis

Our Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program provides screenings to detect TB infection and monitors the presence of TB in Macon County. The TB test is read 48 hours after it is given. Tests and readings are conducted by appointment only. If there is an upcoming holiday, tests may not be given due to inability to read results within the appropriate timeframe. Please call for specific questions regarding this process. Case-management is provided for people with active TB cases.
